High Precision Stainless Steel Wet Film Wheel Paint Wet Film Thickness Measurement Tool
I. Uses and Overview
This instrument is designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO2808-1974 (E) "Paints and varnishes - Determination of Film Thickness". It is mainly used to measure the thickness of the wet film on the painted surface and can roughly estimate the approximate thickness of the dry film. This instrument can be used both in the laboratory and for production control.
II. Technical Guidance
| Measurement range | 0-50 μ m, 0- 100 μ m, 0- 150 μ m, 0- 200 μ m,0~300μm, 0- 500 μ m,0~1000μm |
| measurement accuracy | not exceed 30 μ m |
III. Usage and Operation Methods
1.Apply the coating onto a flat plate (rigid substrate) of appropriate hardness. The test plate area must be large enough so that the distance between the paint film thickness measurement point and either side of the test plate is at least 25mm. Measure the wet film thickness immediately after application.
2. Fix the test plate on a suitable level foundation so that it will not move or jump during the measurement of the paint film. Place the instrument on the wet film of the thickness to be measured, with the small reading at the top and the large gap between the instrument's eccentric wheel and the wet film exactly above the wet film. Then roll it forward by half a turn (180°) and repeat it in the opposite direction by half a turn (180°), then move it. Check the position where the central rim of the instrument first contacts the wet film surface, read the value and calculate its average to become a reading.
3. If the topcoat contains volatile solvents or has a low solid content, it is advisable to apply it to the freshly coated film. Additionally, take at least one separate reading and calculate the average of these individual readings.
Note: Although this instrument is suitable for measuring the wet film thickness coated on a flat test plate, it can also be used on the surface of workpieces that are bent in only one direction on-site or in factories, as long as the substrate does not bend between the two concentric wheels to the point where it affects the instrument's measurement.
IV. Result Evaluation
When the linear center section of each scale is used, that is, about 80% of the total scale range is used, the accuracy is high.
V. Precautions
After applying the coating on a hard flat test board in the laboratory or on the surface of the workpiece to be coated on-site, the thickness of the wet paint film should be measured as soon as possible to reduce the thinning of the paint film caused by solvent evaporation.
After use, the instrument should be wiped clean and placed in a dry area.
When the instrument is not in use for a long time, it should be coated with oil for rust prevention treatment.
